2001
Todd and Bethany Henry, lifelong youth workers, opened the
doors of NEOSCOSMOS.com
as a time-saving educational gift to their youth worker peers. With
only 4 part-part-time staff, approximately 20 volunteer content
creators/authors, and only a small savings account as
“venture
capital,” the unique depth and objectivity of NC
gradually attracted several hundred “paid” members,
and several
thousand other regular site visitors. And, due to a notorious
“un-edited” interview with controversial speaker, Phil Chalmers (True
Lies),…and
a very supportive friendship with
youth culture expert, Walt
Mueller (cpyu.org),…NC
gratefully received center stage attention during a season of National Youth
Workers Convention events (Youth Specialties),
both @ an elaborate interactive exhibit booth and as sponsor/moderator
for an infamous “Late Night” round table discussion
on youth ministry
responses to current teen pop culture.
However, after a respectable run beside much larger teen culture
resources of a different flavor, passion was eventually forced to give
way to (lack of) pocketbook, and NC
closed it’s virtual doors
indefinitely.
2006
In partnership with Rondel Ramsey and the Youth Ministry Department of Lincoln Christian College, NEOSCOSMOS was re-launched as an undergrad class blog (YM430: Cultural Exegesis / http://www.neoscosmos.com/ym430), and FREE educational learning space about the perspectives, influences, meanings, and cultural shifts INSIDE the world of today’s teenagers.
2007
NEOSCOSMOS.com
is now the online home of our nonprofit youth organization, which
challenges and equips students to cultivate,
captivate, and create from a heart of
character,...who
they really are and want to be.
We genuinely LIKE to hang out with, love, and believe in the teenage folk that inhabit our world,...as well as those folks who are standing fast as parents, or have voluntarily chosen the most noble call of "youth worker".
We'd consider it a privilege to come alongside and work with you for cultural change in your school, church, community, or national event.
If there is anything else we can ever do for you, please don’t hesitate to ask.
His 4 YOUth,
Todd and Bethany Henry
